Job Title: Material Coordinator - Shipboard

Location: Charleson, SC

  • This position is on board an Army Pre Positioned Ship located in areas to include Korea, Guam and Diego Garcia for a period of 30 months. Candidate is committed to a minimum of one year time in position before he/she can be considered for another position. Upon completion of each year in position candidate will receive a yearend bonus and one round trip ticket to home of record or destination of less distance.
  • Candidate must be in top physical condition as working and living on board ship is physically demanding.
  • The Material Coordinator expedites and coordinates flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between areas onboard the assigned Ship in accordance with supervisors' priorities. Examines material or parts to verify type is correct as requisitioned.  Candidate will monitor and control movement of material and parts, compile report of quantity and type of material on hand, move or transport material from one area to another, using hand or industrial truck; uses stock records in order to locate material for the maintenance process, using computerized system.
  • Additionally, the material coordinator shall maintain HAZMAT shelf life accountability and order replacements as required. At times will be required to participate in ship’s drills and assist as necessary.


  • Three years directly related work experience.
  • Certificate from a vocational school or other recognized source with a major study in Material Accounting/Inventory Methods or related field.
  • Completion of the basic supply course, or equivalent.   
  • Completion of intermediate supply course, or equivalent.
  • Posses a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator License. 
  • Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.
