Job Title: Logistics SME

Location: Naval Sea Logistics Center, Mechanicsburg, PA

Job Description: Operating Materials & Supplies (OM&S) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support Navy warehouse operations in conducting proper physical turnover of Navy Surface Warfare OM&S facilities to NAVSEALOGCEN for management which requires an in-depth knowledge of warehouse business practices utilizing the NAVSEA OM&S process guide, FIAR, MHE, PDREP, NAVFAC transportation, and DRMS procedures.  Duties may include the following:

  • Provide guidance on NSLC POA&M for warehouse turnover and reporting requirements.
  • Support OM&S warehouse operations at all Warfare Centers and provide guidance on warehouse operations with a focus on FIAR compliance.
  • Train current workforce in Navy warehouse operations to include material receipts/issues, material inventory/storage, shipping, and identification.
  • Develop annual inventory plans.
  • Assist in the optimization of storage aids within the warehouses.  Provide cost estimates for associated funding requirements.
  • Record transactions into Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (NERP).
  • Implement procedures for offloading and/or disposal of controlled and excess materials.
  • Identify MHE asset list for all warfare centers and develop replacement strategy of government owned and contractor leased assets.
  • Implement standard operating procedures processing material discrepancies, inventory differences and frustrated materials.
  • Provide guidance on Supply Discrepancy Reports procedures.
  • Conduct telephone conferences with warehouse site leads.
  • Travel to Navy Warfare Centers across the United States.


  • Education: Fifteen or more years of progressive experience in Material Management and Navy Logistics

  • US Citizen

  • Seven to ten years of Supply Chain experience.

  • Knowledge of NAVSEA OM&S desired.

  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret policies and procedures and implement them.

  • Experienced in data/record management using Navy Enterprise Resource Planning techniques.

  • Knowledge of eRMS, eTIDS, PDREP, FACTs, and Haystack desired.

  • Knowledge of disposal procedures, Material Handling Equipment, and NAVFAC transportation to include knowledge of NAVFAC-P300.

  • Certified forklift driver desired.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
